Brief Update.... Dec 1 09

I love it here on the Big Island.... I naturally wake early. It is incredibly quiet here in the rainforest and not having heat or air and living in a rustic cabin is incredibly freeing. My children are free to roam 23 acres of flower farm here in Volcano HI. So nice to unwind here. I feel my stress melting away and my lungs being cleared and healing from all of the smog. The prices here for mainland food are crazy..... 4.99 for a gallon of milk same price for a dozen eggs. So I got a recipe book on local food. Its mostly asian and polynesian fusion. Everything I need to make sushi (rice, seaweed, fresh fish) there is an abundance of and inexpensive. There are a lot of fruits and vegetables here I have never tried before such as star fruit and apple bananas. I love them!! Guava juice and Mango is in abundance too. I purchased white honey from a local grower and use it to sweeten my green tea which is grown here as well. My sister has a ton of tomatoes that she grows on her property along with cantelope, romaine lettuce, lemons and limes. We use the lemons in our tea as well. I am finding that cooking on a propane stove is a lot better than electric as its hard to control the temperature on an electric stove. As many of you know I sold all my things and am starting from scratch. I went shopping on the island for the basics yesterday..... blankets, pots, pans, silverware, towels, so and and so forth and oddly enough it is still walmart with the lowest prices..... Damn! I was hoping to get away from them. However, I am mostly shopping at small local places to support small businesses which is what I prefer to do. My children just came in with freshly picked tomatoes and are begging me to make fresh guacamole and salsa. Sounds good!! Will update you all more later!! Love and miss you all in AZ!
